Warehouse, Parts, and Equipment Technician

This full-time position is based at RD&S’s main office and fabrication shop facility located in Fairless Hills, PA. The position requires routine travel to our Moosic, PA shop and numerous project sites located in the surrounding areas. A listing of responsibilities is included below but the primary duties are focused on support of our construction and service efforts. The position may require weekday and weekend overtime, evening/night shift and holiday work. A valid driving license is required along with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Receive incoming packages from all vendors. Review packing list vs PO to confirm all material was received. Report any discrepancies to PO originator.
  • Ship out any required materials. Process shipping labels as required.
  • Process all RMA’s for field returns. Confirm all parts go back to proper vendor in a timely manner.
  • Check in valves, equipment and other project related items for jobs. Place stickers supplied by engineering on proper items.
  • Maintain valve room stock. Process requests by construction, service or engineering for valves.
  • Maintain service parts stock. Process requests by construction, service or engineering for service parts.
  • Maintain pipe, steel and fitting inventory.
  • Maintain hardware inventory.
  • Maintain paint room inventory. Process requests by construction, service or engineering for paint.
  • Process PO requests for items and submit to proper vendor or purchasing agent.
  • Maintain shop tool inventory and assess condition. Report if repairs are needed. Handle repairs with proper vendors.
  • Maintain service and construction truck tool inventory and assess condition. Report if repairs are needed. Handle repairs with proper vendors.
  • Maintain shop and truck tool log on computer.
  • Shop/office maintenance. Trash removal from shop area and kitchen, cleaning, painting, etc.
  • Sweep shop floors twice weekly, general sweep Tuesday complete sweep Friday if shop is empty.
  • Deliver parts and equipment to field as required in van, pickup truck or stake body with trailer.
  • Work week will be M-F 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and as required at other times by the Director of Construction.
  • Basic computer skills on Microsoft office and similar software.
  • Work with shop mechanic to ensure vehicle service and equipment repair logs are maintained on the computer.
  • Able to operate fork truck and bridge crane in warehouse.
  • Reports to Director of Construction.

Service Technician

This position involves troubleshooting and repairing all components of industrial ammonia refrigeration systems and equipment such as screw and reciprocating compressors, evaporators, condensers, valves, motors, pumps, and associated control/alarm systems.

Sales Engineer

This position is responsible for the development of new construction project accounts and the continuing coordination of projects with existing clientele. The prospective candidate will develop project scope, perform preliminary engineering, estimate project cost and assemble proposal documents and presentation. You should be knowledgeable in all aspects of refrigeration system design and construction. We prefer someone with a background in the industrial market but will consider training a person knowledgeable of commercial refrigeration who possesses the desire to move into industrial refrigeration.

The position offers a commission with base salary compensation package with medical benefits, 401K program and paid holidays and vacations.

Refrigeration Pipe Fitter and Field Supervisor

Install industrial refrigeration systems at various locations around the country. Applicant must be experienced in installation of large industrial refrigeration systems. Possess the ability to layout piping systems from drawing documents and flow diagrams generated by the RD&S engineering department per IIAR piping standards. Effectively manage other pipe fitters and welders on the crew to install components and piping system within project budget.

Essential abilities and duties

  • Understand and properly interpret flow diagrams and layout drawings.
  • Complete material take-off and place order with proper vendors.
  • Coordinates work of subcontractors working on various phases of the project.
  • Ability to properly fit up refrigeration, water and glycol pipe.
  • Working knowledge of computer software, including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, Email, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD.
  • Understand all weld procedures used by RD&S and perform visual quality checks throughout the installation of the system.
  • Complete daily/weekly work logs.
  • Report and resolve discrepancies in the drawings to RD&S engineering department and Director of Construction.
  • Supervise construction crew and sub-contractors for efficient installation of each project.
  • Ensure all material specifications for equipment, pipe and other materials are being followed.
  • Ability to visualize final pipe path and layout accordingly per IIAR pipe standards.
  • Complete as-built drawings on a daily basis and submit final as-builts to engineering.
  • Must travel as required and stay out of town on a job up to 10 days, occasionally longer.
  • Attend all company sponsored functions.
  • Attend company sponsored training as required.
  • Ensure all RD&S, OSHA and client safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Attend safety and construction meetings.
  • Reports to Director of Construction.

Assistant Sales Engineer

The primary goal of this entry-level position is to learn refrigeration sales and the engineering responsibilities included within. At the conclusion of this training you will work as a Sales Engineer.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Project Estimating – Assist Sales and Engineering personnel with the development of refrigeration system designs and estimate associated cost.
  • Program Updates – Multiple estimating templates and spread sheets are utilized in the development of project costs. These sheets require routine updates and revisions in order to maintain accurate price development.
  • Marketing – Assist with the company’s marketing effort by developing and updating marketing materials for distribution to customers and on the company web site.
  • Field Service – Spend one day per week in the field with the service or construction department manager (or other senior service technician). This will be a hands-on work day as a helper. This experience will not only give you an appreciation of what our field work entails it will enhance your basic refrigeration knowledge.
  • Web Site Updates – Assist in the maintenance and renewal of web site information.

Applicant Requirements

  • Education – The prospective applicant will be degreed engineer having completed a program of study at an accredited institution.
  • The prospective candidate shall be proficient with computer based word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Communication Skills – This position requires good communication skills and the ability to interact with customers and company field and office personnel.
  • Personal Development – You will possess an interest in increasing your knowledge of refrigeration systems and equipment applications.
